The Laboratory Manager will supervise the day-to-day activities in a newly established laboratory at The Rockefeller University and conduct experiments central to the laboratory's research on tuberculosis. Projects will utilize genome-scale forward genetics, molecular genetics, and biochemistry to elucidate the mechanisms Mycobacterium tuberculosis uses to survive and persist in the host. Responsibilities include molecular cloning, tissue culture, gene expression analysis, next generation sequencing, biochemistry, and work with cellular and animal models. Will establish lab databases, procedures, and protocols, and serve as a primary point of contact between the laboratory and vendors, the university, IACUC, and LS&EH.; Will ensure that lab members comply with all laboratory rules and regulations and provide training when necessary. The Laboratory Manager will negotiate with vendors for the purchase, maintenance, and calibration of equipment, check supply levels and place orders, and store and distribute new supplies.
Bachelor's degree in science required. Must have strong communication and organizational skills, a minimum of two years of laboratory experience, and training in microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field. Prior experience working in a BSL3 lab is desirable. Must have the ability to multi-task and work effectively as part of a dynamic team with the goal of reaching challenging milestones in a timely manner. Must be willing to work in a biosafety level 3 (BSL3) environment.
