The Rockefeller University Hospital is funded by the National Institutes of Health and has 20 patient beds for clinical research. The Hospital provides researchers with an opportunity to conduct clinical studies, and offers both normal volunteers and people with diseases under study the opportunity to stay in the hospital and help to contribute to important advances in science. The Hospital has an inpatient unit as well as an outpatient center where prospective patients are screened and many outpatient studies are conducted. The Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day with professional nurses and has nutritional research, social work, art and recreation departments, and a radiology suite as well as its own research pharmacy. Working with the Recruitment Specialist, the Recruitment Assistant will provide services to support recruitment of participants into clinical research studies. Responsibilities include helping with the design of recruiting plans, placing ads, updating web listings and social media, planning recruitment events, staffing the call center, calling back volunteers on a daily basis, pre-screening, referring and scheduling patient appointments, and data capture, tracking metrics, managing the database and producing performance reports. The Recruitment Assistant will also provide administrative support to the office and the Clinical Research Officer by arranging logistics for travel, meetings and events, data analysis for QA/QI, and tracking budgets, purchasing, and research support.
Bachelor's degree required; experience in healthcare, clinical research, patient recruitment, public health, community outreach, or customer service strongly preferred. Must have excellent communication skills, professional demeanor/telephone etiquette, high attention to detail, accuracy, and punctuality. Must have experience in data-entry, budgets, and basic data analysis. Must be able to work independently as well as seek guidance as needed. Personal initiative important. Must strictly honor patient confidentiality. Must have working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
