Laboratory / Department Comparative Bioscience Center

Department Description

The Comparative Bioscience Center provides a comprehensive program of animal care in support of the University's in vivo research. The goal of our staff is to provide investigators with the highest level of research support at the lowest cost while ensuring the welfare of the animals used in the research. The center is fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).

Detailed Description

The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for all tasks related to animal order purchasing, receiving, and directing all incoming traffic passing through the CBC Main Office. The animal ordering component will require the use of the Oracle Applications program to process and maintain animal orders and the ability to serve as a liaison between vendors and investigators. The reception role will require providing customer service to investigative staff, directing callers, and welcoming visitors to the CBC Main Office. Will also be the system administrator and investigator contact for all procedure/surgery rooms and calendar scheduling. Will also perform weekly census scanning, distribute special use cards and provide general support to investigative staff. Cross rain across all administrative competencies and fill in for other teammates when required. Will work on special projects as needed.

Job Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required, bachelor's degree preferred. Proficiency with RU oracle purchasing software, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Capacity to be a team player with a strong sense of integrity and an ability to accept different points of view. Ability to work with diverse groups in a professional manner, with changing priorities in a busy environment.Strong computer skills with an ability to quickly learn new programs. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
