Laboratory / Department Comparative Bioscience Center
The Comparative Bioscience Center provides a comprehensive program of animal care in support of the University's in vivo research. The goal of our staff is to provide investigators with the highest level of research support at the lowest cost while ensuring the welfare of the animals used in the research. The center is fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).
The Assistant Director will augment strong partnerships with Rockefeller investigators and assist in implementing and managing programs to motivate, invest in, and optimize internal staff performance. Responsibilities include supporting investigator research programs using diverse laboratory animal species, oversight of rodent biosecurity programs, facilitating research programs utilizing a new imaging core, providing advice on animal models and research design, clinical care to research animal colonies, participating in IACUC activities, teaching postdoctoral fellows in laboratory animal medicine, and scholarly collaborations. DVM/VMD degree from an accredited veterinary college required; certification from the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) strongly preferred. Must be currently licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the US and be experienced in laboratory animal medicine. Demonstrated clinical proficiency in a large laboratory animal facility is highly desired. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
