Department Description

The Laboratory of Molecular Neuro-Oncology is currently working to implement and scale a clinically validated laboratory-developed SARS-CoV-2 assay at Rockefeller University. This project intersects between clinical research and clinical testing. It has multiple innovative initiatives in motion, including clinical testing, test method development, and clinical research studies that focus on questions around COVID-19, viral detection.

Detailed Description

The Clinical Research Nurse will participate in creating and amending GCP-compliant protocols and consents for clinical research studies for COVID-19 and other research areas. Responsibilities include preparing study documents for submission to the IRB, creating study specific source documents and case report forms (CRFs) for these studies, consenting study participants, managing study conduct throughout the study, providing participant care as appropriate, and ensuring proper documentation of data and study closure. Will implement studies in healthy subjects, and primarily patients with COVID-19, work with patients through the clinical testing process and prepare hospital staff as needed for these studies as required by providing training. The Clinical Research Nurse will work daily with the study team to assure that the studies are cGCP compliant and act as a liaison between the clinical lab team and patients. Will work with personnel in other University departments such as Occupational Health as needed to implement research and clinical laboratory processes.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in nursing and current New York State Registered Nursing License required. Must have previous nursing experience and experience as a clinical research coordinator conducting studies utilizing Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Experience with virology and genetics preferred. Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to work with COVID-19 patients.
