The Development Program provides in excess of $50 million in private support annually toward the mission of The Rockefeller University, which is to improve the understanding of life for the benefit of humanity. Working with the Board of Trustees and volunteer groups, including The Rockefeller University Council, the Committee on Trust and Estate Plans, and the Women & Science (W&S) and Parents & Science Initiatives, the Development Office oversees all private fundraising at the university, including annual, capital, and endowment campaigns.The Development Assistant for Women & Science will provide essential staff support for the programs and donors of this initiative, one among several within the Development Office. Founded in 1997, W&S is one of Rockefeller's most effective programs for making the university better known and introducing prospective donors to campus.The Women & Science initiative hosts an annual lecture series, raises support for Rockefeller through annual fundraising efforts, and cultivates a group of volunteers who donate their time, energy, ideas, and financial resources to the university. Through a growing network of volunteers, W&S also reaches out to foundations and corporations to secure programmatic support and underwriting for the Spring W&S Lecture and Luncheon and the newly launched W&S Entrepreneurship Fund. The upcoming academic year will have several special events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of W&S.
The Development Assistant will assist a team of four in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and volunteers supporting the Women & Science (W&S) fundraising initiatives. Administrative responsibilities include entering data, maintaining databases, running reports, tracking gifts, and writing correspondence, acknowledgments, and memoranda, from draft to final stages, among other duties. The Development Assistant will be involved in all aspects of W&S event planning and production and represent the university at programs and special events. The Development Assistant will also contribute to the development and production of print and digital media content. Additionally, the Development Assistant will be responsible for general office functions, assisting donors and university representatives by phone and email, and lending support to other Development Office projects, as required.
Bachelor's degree required. Must have excellent organization and communication skills (both verbal and written), professional demeanor, be extremely detailed-oriented and accurate, and be capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work as a member of a highly collaborative office and produce time-sensitive materials is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database experience required; experience working with fundraising software/ Blackbaud CRM preferred. Previous fundraising and events experience preferred.
Must be available to work evenings, early mornings, and occasional weekend events, as necessary.?
