Rockefeller University Laboratory Manager, Single-Cell Genomics and Population Dynamics in New York, New York
Job Title Laboratory Manager, Single-Cell Genomics and Population Dynamics
Laboratory / Department Laboratory of Single-Cell Genomics and Population Dynamics
The Laboratory of Single-cell Genomics and Population Dynamics investigates how a cell population maintains homeostasis at whole-organism scale and how it is disrupted in cancer and aging-related disorders. Our primary approach is to develop state-of-the-art genomic techniques to profile and perturb cell dynamics at single-cell resolution. Our long-term goal is to leverage this knowledge to develop cell-type-specific engineering tools that enhance cell population robustness or restore cell population homeostasis in response to cancer and aging-related disorders.
The Laboratory Manager will join a newly established Laboratory that develops novel genomic techniques to profile and perturb cell dynamics at single-cell resolution. Responsibilities will include working directly with the Head of Laboratory to set up critical operational aspects of the laboratory (e.g., setting up genomic sequencing pipeline, maintaining tissue culture and mice colony). The Laboratory Manager will promote efficient use and flow of financial and scientific resources in a high-level research environment. Responsibilities include budget planning and monitoring, preparing animal ethics protocols, and overseeing compliance with University safety regulations. Will conduct bench science as well, including optimization of lab protocols and supporting ongoing research projects. Additional responsibilities include orientation for new laboratory members, keeping up to date with laboratory stocking and supply purchases, and overseeing compliance with University safety regulations.
Bachelor's degree in science required; advanced degree and educational emphasis in biology or biomedical science strongly preferred. Experience working with mice, tissue culture and molecular biology required. Must have the ability to work independently within a team environment and have excellent organizational, record-keeping and interpersonal skills-knowledge of general laboratory equipment and materials required.
