Occupational Health Services (OHS) offers employees a variety of services and health screenings without charge. OHS has Occupational Health Nurses trained to administer the services and screening programs listed below.
Working as part of our Occupational Health team, the Nurse will collaborate with the Occupational Health Director, Nurse Practitioner, Administrator and Physician Consultant in providing care to University employees. Responsibilities include conducting health assessments of patients with real or potentially acute, and/or chronic health problems, administering over-the-counter medications and immunizations in accordance with standing orders, and providing referrals to specialty services to foster continuity of care. Will participate actively in health promotion and wellness initiatives and monitor select campus populations as required by regulatory agencies. The Occupational Health Nurse will oversee and orchestrate the short-term disability and workers' compensation case management in collaboration with our Human Resources Benefits department. Additional responsibilities include responding to campus emergencies and the administration of routine and travel immunizations.
Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York. Active BLS certification and experience with electronic medical record documentation required. Must have or be willing to obtain occupational health certification. Previous experience in occupational health, case management for short-term disability, and workers' compensation strongly preferred. Previous clinical experience as an RN including vaccination administration (IM and SQ), venipuncture and intradermal PPD testing necessary. Must demonstrate clinical expertise, and possess very strong interpersonal skills, excellent discretion, judgment, tact, initiative, organizational skills and self-motivation. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills required.
