Detailed Description
The Research Assistant will be responsible for helping conduct research related to the functional evolution of newly evolved genes. Responsibilities include maintaining Drosophila stocks, performing molecular biology experiments, samples and data collection, and phenotype characterization. Will work closely with the PI and trainees, provide scientific input to the project, coordinate laboratory operations, and order supplies and manage laboratory inventory.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, evolutionary biology, or related field preferred. Prior experience with Drosophila research a plus. Must be organized, detail-oriented, focused, and highly motivated to work in both general laboratory duties as well as mentored and independent research projects. Strong writing skills are desirable. Willingness to learn is a must.
