Organization Overview
Our lab consists of 15 lab members (Research Assistants, Graduate Students, and Postdocs) studying the molecular basis of obesity-associated diseases. Our studies focus on the biology of white and brown adipose tissue and span from basic molecular and cell biology to whole animal physiology and human subjects.
Overview
The Research Assistant will work on a project studying the paracrine and endocrine properties of fat cells. This will involve studies with cultured cells as well as animal models to identify and characterize adipocyte-derived molecules.
Responsibilities
Maintenance of animal colony required for cell-type selective protein labeling
Biochemical experiments to identify and characterize secreted proteins and metabolites
Data analysis, lab presentations
Assistance with lab upkeep
Related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a science major and prior laboratory experience required. The applicant should have experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, and a willingness to work with animal models.
Prior experience with mouse models would be an asset, but is not absolutely required.
