Research Assistant | Laboratory of Molecular Neuro-oncology in New York, NY

Organization Overview

"RNA is the driving force of biological complexity, determining which genes any given cell expresses at specific times and under specific circumstances. Darnell developed high-throughput sequencing and crosslinking methods to investigate how RNA binding proteins (RBPs) modulate gene expression. He discovered neuron-specific RNA-binding proteins in the mammalian brain, and studies their link to intellectual function and human disease."

Overview

We need an experienced laboratory animal technician to help maintain our animal colony and work with our biologists. Must be comfortable working with laboratory animals, understand genetic breeding strategies, timed matings, and all aspects of mouse husbandry. Excellent chance to learn cutting edge neuroscience and molecular biology techniques including sophisticated brain dissections, optogenetics, stereotaxic injections, CLIP, RNA-sequencing, and animal behavioral and vocalization studies.
