Job Title Research Assistant
Laboratory / Department Blood and Vascular Biology
Our laboratory is devoted primarily to investigating platelet physiology, thrombosis, vascular biology and adhesion phenomena in sickle cell disease. We study the basic molecular interactions between blood cells and the blood vessel. Our studies span from basic molecular structure to complex phenomena such as thrombosis in intact animals. Our goal is to use the knowledge of the molecular interactions to develop new therapies for thrombosis and sickle cell disease.
The Research Assistant will work on blood and vascular biology studies involving platelets, leukocytes, and red blood cells. Responsibilities include molecular and whole animal studies, as well as blood cell studies.
Bachelor's degree in science required. Must have experience in cell biology, protein chemistry, monoclonal antibodies, and molecular biology. Experience performing platelet function analyses and working with mouse models strongly preferred. Previous experience with lab coordination and organization a plus.
