Rockefeller University Research Assistant in New York, New York
Job Title Research Assistant
Laboratory / Department Laboratory of Virology and Infectious Disease
Our work focuses on several different aspects of molecular virology, biochemical and structural virology, viral pathogenesis and vaccine development. The laboratory studies animal RNA viruses, including hepatitis C virus (HCV), yellow fever virus (prototype flavivirus), bovine viral diarrhea virus (a pestivirus) and Sindbis virus (a togavirus).
The goal of this project is to optimize and develop SARS-CoV2 replicons for studying SARS-CoV2 biology and for high-throughput uses such as drug screening. The Research Assistant will assist with experiments related to optimization and utilization of SARS-CoV2 replicon systems. Responsibilities include novel cloning strategies (including using yeast systems), RNA vitro-transcription and transfection into mammalian cells, high-throughput screens and reporter assays, as well as generation, concentration, and quantification of virus-like particles in a BSL2 environment.
Bachelor's degree in science required; Master's degree will be considered. Must have experience with cloning and molecular virology techniques (especially RNA work). Sterile technique and mammalian cell culture is a plus. Experience working with pathogens, particularly viruses is a plus.
