Department Description

Our long-term goal is to understand how the human telomeric complex executes its two main functions: to protect chromosome ends and mediate their replication. Our research is aimed at determining how cells distinguish natural chromosome ends from DNA breaks and what happens when telomere protection is lost

Detailed Description

The Research Assistant will provide general assistance with cell and molecular biological experiments as well as maintenance of the lab's mouse colony, including breeding to maintain genetically altered mouse strains. Approximately 20% of the Research Assistant's time will be spent on the maintenance of the mouse colony.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in science required. Must have basic molecular biology skills such as cloning, DNA/RNA preparation, and PCR. Experience with mouse husbandry and preparing DNA for genotyping required. Must be able to handle basic cage maintenance and organization, setting up mating's, weaning, and clipping tails.
