Job Title Research Assistant
Laboratory / Department Molecular Vertebrate Embryology
The ultimate objective of the work in my laboratory is to understand the cellular and molecular basis of vertebrate embryonic induction, with a special emphasis on germ layer and organ formation. Toward this aim we perform comparative studies using both amphibian and mammalian model systems, including human embryonic stem cells.
The Research Assistant will work as part of a team focused on human embryonic stem cell research on a variety of projects. Responsibilities include stem cell culturing, cloning, employing molecular biology techniques, microscopy imaging, and data analysis.
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in biology or biochemistry preferred. Must have outstanding organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work in order to carry out complex experiments with attention to detail. Must demonstrate accuracy in record keeping, the ability to organize, and analyze and calculate data. Must possess excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively in a collaborative work environment. Must be amenable to work changing work schedules that prioritize experiments and occasionally include weekend hours.
