The Flow Cytometry Resource Center (FCRC) offers a wide variety of multi-laser/multi-color flow cytometry sorters and analyzers, including spectral and imaging flow cytometers. The FCRC staff provides assistance with experimental design, advice on sample preparation, instrument operation training, troubleshooting, and data analysis consultation as well as ongoing instrument maintenance. High-speed cell sorting and image analysis by flow cytometry is performed by FCRC staff. However, after completing appropriate training, researchers can independently operate benchtop flow cytometry analyzers. Currently the FCRC has three BD FACSArias, an ImageStream-X, a Cytek Aurora, a BD LSR-Fortessa and two BD LSRIIs, a ThermoFisher Attune NxT, and a BD Accuri C6. There are plans to acquire more flow cytometry instruments in the near future.
Working as part of the Flow Cytometry Resource Center team (FCRC), the Research Support Associate will provide assistance with a wide variety of multi-laser/multi-color flow cytometry sorters and analyzers, including spectral and imaging flow cytometers. Responsibilities include experimental design, advice on sample preparation, instrument operation training, troubleshooting, and data analysis consultation as well as ongoing instrument maintenance.
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Must have a minimum of one year of relevant flow cytometry experience and general laboratory experience working with cell cultures and cells ex vivo. Ability to work independently and to interact successfully with broad range of individuals within and outside of the University necessary. Must have excellent communication skills, computer proficiency with both PC and MAC systems, as well as in relevant computer programs and strong attention to detail. Must have the ability and willingness to work flexible/staggered shifts: full time, Monday-Friday shifts may range from 8am-4pm to 10-6pm.
Must be able to wear particulate filter respirator and to lift 45lbs to 4ft height (fluidics tanks and containers).
