The Rockefeller University Hospital is funded by the National Institutes of Health and has 20 patient beds for clinical research. The Hospital provides researchers with an opportunity to conduct clinical studies, and offers both normal volunteers and people with diseases under study the opportunity to stay in the hospital and help to contribute to important advances in science. The Hospital has an inpatient unit as well as an outpatient center where prospective patients are screened and many outpatient studies are conducted. The Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day with professional nurses and has nutritional research, social work, art and recreation departments, and a radiology suite as well as its own research pharmacy. The Senior Medical Staff Services Coordinator will be responsible for the daily operations of the Medical Staff Services Office. The Senior Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all Medical Staff related information, organizing and preparing for committee meetings, and ensuring compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, accrediting and regulatory agencies (i.e., Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) about credentialing while developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the statutes and laws. In this role the ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail and organization, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Major job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Initiate credentialing processes for Medical Staff. Review and analyze applications for initial appointment and reappointment and credentialing documents including clinical education/training, board certification and eligibility, licensure, accreditation, work history, liability insurance and malpractice claims history. Assess completeness of information and qualifications relative to established standards. Identify and flag adverse information from application materials for the purpose of conducting special follow-up investigations in preparation for HSS Committee/Board review. Maintain applicant tracking system for follow-up of unanswered correspondence according to schedules designed to maintain departmental standards for application processing time. Respond to all 2805-K verification query requests. Track and maintain expiring licenses/registrations/health assessments for all credentialed providers. Send monthly communications to credentialed providers and Clinical Directors related to expiring licenses, registrations, health assessments. Internally audit, organize and maintain provider files in accordance with established principles of legal documentation and confidentiality. Prepare data reports for various configurations of data such as provider profiles, pending provider list, and expired credentials. Identify, develop, implement, and maintain credentialing/reappointment reports and or department workflow(s). Prepare and attend Credentials Committee & MSEC meetings, coordinate agenda, take minutes and provide administrative support
3 or more years of credentialing experience in a hospital/clinic setting, certified by the National Association of Medical Staff Services as a Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), working knowledge of credentialing standards for NYSDOH and other regulatory credentialing regulations, ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality, excellent computer skills including word processing and data base maintenance (Cactus software a plus). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated with the ability to complete projects independently. Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and assist other departments when needed.
