Department Description

Sponsored Research and Program Development oversees the administration, compliance, and documentation of sponsored programs for The Rockefeller University, and works towards furthering the University's research enterprise.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the OSPA Director, the Senior Sponsored Programs Officer, Administrative Post Award will be responsible for non-financial administration of all awarded sponsored research projects. Will manage administrative aspects of all sponsored awards including prior approval requests, award transfers, and reviews of sponsors' terms and conditions for planned applications. Will perform due diligence, sub-recipient monitoring, and process outgoing contracts. Will maintain full and timely documentation of all post award efforts, notify investigators of awards, and inform them of all reporting requirements as defined by the award's terms and conditions. The Senior Sponsored Programs Officer will manage and follow post award procedures for interaction with compliance and other campus offices associated with post award management (IACUC, IRB, Tech Transfer, Finance, Legal Counsel, Research Support, and others as needed). Will verify compliance (COI, animals, human subjects, lab safety, ESCRO, etc.) prior to processing award and maintain awards in RAS-Grants and any remaining award paper folder. The Senior Sponsored Programs Officer will track closing documentation due dates, obtain reports from PIs, and request no-cost extensions as needed. Will work with the Director to develop and run reports relating to award receipts, track outstanding awards and subcontracts, interact with labs and sponsors to determine status of funding, clarify policies and guidelines, and oversee record retention needs as dictated by internal and sponsor policies.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of experience in research administration at either a department or central level required. Master's degree and CRA Certification preferred. Must have the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations with numerous and diverse demands. Must accurately prepare and maintain records, files and reports and be able to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision. Must be professional while interacting with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in an academic-oriented environment. Must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet inflexible deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
